Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd.: Consultancy on FTA and risk analysis – Designers and suppliers of life-safety audio communications systems, Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited (BBCL) are selected suppliers to many high-profile transportation projects. As part of their contract to supply the complex public address and voice alarm system to Atkins Rail, BBCL need to provide assurance that their systems meet contractual requirements for software reliability. In February 2002 D.G.Edworthy Associates were commissioned to provide consultancy to the BBCL design team on Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and its use in risk analysis. This enabled the company to satisfy contractual requirements placed on them by their customer.

Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd.: Consultancy and Training on Software Design for Reliability and the use of Software Of Unknown Provenance (SOUP) – Designers and suppliers of life-safety audio communications systems, Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited (BBCL) are selected suppliers to many high-profile transportation projects. As part of their contract to supply the complex public address and voice alarm systems, BBCL need to provide assurance that their systems meet contractual requirements for software reliability. In October 2003 D.G.Edworthy Associates were commissioned to provide consultancy and training to the BBCL design team on the design of software for reliability and in the use of SOUP. This enabled the company to control their risks when incorporating software-related products from other suppliers in BBCL systems, and to satisfy contractual requirements placed on them by their customers.

Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd.: Vigil Range Fault Tree Analysis – Designers and suppliers of life-safety audio communications systems, Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited (BBCL) are selected suppliers to many high-profile transportation projects. As part of their contract to supply the complex VigilTM public address and voice alarm system to Atkins Rail, BBCL need to provide comprehensive reliability data and predictions that confirmed their system’s compliance with contractual reliability requirements. Atkins Rail required this to incorporate Fault Tree Analysis (FTA). To overcome in-house resource limitations, in March 2003 D.G.Edworthy Associates were commissioned to perform the analysis. Working with the BBCL design team to gather data I performed a detailed FTA and MIL-217-F parts count analysis that provided the risk analysis and reliability, availability and maintainability predictions at a high level of confidence and assurance. Feedback received from Atkins Rail was extremely favourable.

Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd.: Generic Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Report – Designers and suppliers of life-safety audio communications systems, Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited (BBCL) are a selected suppliers to many high-profile transportation projects. As part of their contracts to supply the complex Vigil2TM public address and voice alarm systems, BBCL need to provide comprehensive reliability data and predictions for to confirm their system’s compliance with contractual reliability requirements. In September 2004 D.G.Edworthy Associates were commissioned to perform the analysis, working with the BBCL design team to gather data and perform a detailed MIL-217-F parts count analysis that provided generic reliability, availability and maintainability predictions at a high level of confidence and assurance.

Baldwin Boxall Communications Ltd.: Kings Cross Tube Station Voice Alarm System – Designers and suppliers of life-safety audio communications systems, Baldwin Boxall Communications Limited (BBCL) are a selected supplier to London Underground for station refurbishments. As part of their contract to supply the complex public address and voice alarm system covering all areas of Kings Cross tube station, BBCL needed to provide formal reliability analyses and predictions for two purposes; 1) to confirm the system’s compliance with reliability requirements and 2) to provide information needed for the preparation of maintenance plans. D.G.Edworthy Associates were commissioned to perform the analysis, gathering data from the BBCL design team and performing a successful MIL-217-F parts count analysis to provide reliability predictions that met requirements and had a high level of confidence and assurance.

Tandberg Television Ltd.: FMEA/FMECA training – Designers and suppliers of broadcast TV equipment, Tandberg TV, wished to adopt effective reliability improvement techniques in their product design and testing activities. D.G.Edworthy Associates were contracted to design and present a training seminar in Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA). Twelve members of the company’s engineering staff attended the well-received full-day seminar that involved a mixture of theory and practical exercises and concluded with preliminary analysis of one of the company’s current products. In their feedback the company said “Thanks for your help Doug. I thought the course maintained a good pace through the day and kept everyone’s interest”.
